FOREST PRODUCTS WEEK PROCLAMATION PRESENTED

TO COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Garrett County Forestry Board presented the Garrett County Commissioners with a Governor’s Proclamation of Forest Products Week at their weekly meeting on Tuesday, October 16, 2007. Forest Products Week is celebrated the week of October 14 – 20, 2007.

The State of Maryland joins with the Maryland Forests Association in celebrating the time-honored traditions of our forest products industry through the theme, “Healthy Forests for a Healthy Environment”. Last week Governor O’Malley was in Garrett County to discuss the Gypsy Moth damage and the threat it poses to our forests. This theme recognizes the forest product industry’s continued commitment to improving our environment by effectively managing our forest resources.

Shown above in the picture with the proclamation are from left to right in the front row: Ernie Metz, Project Forester, Commissioners Ernie Gregg; and Fred Holliday, Commissioner and Forestry Board member; Dennis Glotfelty, Commissioner, and Charles Hoffeditz, Forestry Board Chairman.
